Remain Alliance Comes to Life in Uxbridge and South Ruislip
London, Monday, 2nd September 2019: The Liberal Democrats today welcomed the Renew Party into a Remain Alliance in Boris Johnson’s Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency.
Renew and the Liberal Democrats’ shared goals of working together in the national interest and stopping Brexit make this alliance a natural and welcome addition to the political landscape.
Dr Liz Evenden-Kenyon, the Liberal Democrat PPC, said:
“This constituency of Uxbridge and South Ruislip is now at the vanguard of using reasoned, evidence-based dialogue as a way to prevent a national disaster. We must come together now to stop Johnson and Cummings in their tracks. I will be very clear: at this late stage, I consider the best option to be to Revoke Article 50.”
Renew Interim Leader, Julie Girling, said:
“We are delighted to support Liz in her campaign to unseat Boris Johnson in the constituency of Uxbridge and South Ruislip in a forthcoming general election.
“Renew agrees with the Liberal Democrats: Brexit is an unmitigated disaster that must be stopped. However, that can only happen if like-minded people come together to support each other in pragmatic unity.
“To that end, we are backing Liz in the knowledge that she stands the best chance of fighting the Prime Minister’s toxic agenda in a forthcoming general election. In the face of pro-Brexit Conservative, Labour and Brexit Party candidates, Liz's campaign will be the best way to fight our corner.
“We will now work together to win in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, spoil the Prime Minister’s honeymoon and stop the Brexit madness. We hope this will be the first of many alliances taking place across the country in the spirit of determined cooperation.”
