Support Michael Taggart
Michael is founder and CEO of a Brighton-based content marketing consultancy. He has several years of working in and around public services, having spent seven years in senior roles in local government communications, including two years as head of media relations at Brighton & Hove City Council.
Before that, Michael was a journalist who worked his way quickly from cub reporter on a local newspaper to correspondent on a national newspaper. Asked for the highlights of his career, Michael cites covering the September 11 terrorist attacks, working undercover in London's illegal jobs market and a year-long stint as a crime reporter reporting on major trials at the Old Bailey.
A lifelong Labour voter, Michael became disillusioned with the party following Jeremy Corbyn's elevation to the leadership in 2015. His concern about the far left course on which Labour was set intensified as Corbyn disappeared during the UK Brexit referendum.
Away from work, Michael described himself as a "reluctant runner", having dragged himself around a marathon course twice. Michael lives in Hove with his wife, Helen, and their cat, Tilksy.
